TwentyAt Version 1.0.4

Big news everyone! The new TwentyAt version 1.0.4 has been released for iPhone and is available in the App Store.  Click to download, or update, here: TwentyAt

We’ve worked hard to make this new version faster and easier for you to add friends.  Our secure group messaging has been extended to your Friends Map and also features push notifications, so you can always be aware of the messages from your closest contacts (Your 20).

Be sure to follow your most relevant Facebook activity in our Streams feature and, unlike in Facebook itself, feel free to privately reply to a friend’s post and not have to share the exchange with the entire Facebook community. Lastly, you and your 20 can always keep your contact info current with each other through the newly added “My Profile” section.

Thanks and remember that all the above features are also available in our WebApp at www.twentyat.com.

Highlights below:

My Profile - Always keeps your contact info current with just your closest friends.

Friends Map - Now with the ability to message and call your friends directly from the live Map.

Adding Friends - Now choose to invite your friends to TwentyAt through either, or both, Facebook and email.

NYC Happenings: BROADWAY BOMB

TwentyAt is proud to be a NYC company at heart.  We’re involved with a lot of exciting things in this city, and we’ll begin posting about them in a new category: NYC Happenings!  First up is the 2011 BROADWAY BOMB.

via eastsidelongboards.wordpress.com

This past Saturday, we got to experience the Broadway Bomb, an unsanctioned longboard race from 116th street at Riverside Park down to the Charging Bull statue in Wall Street.  Started in 2000, it has become a massively popular event attracting longboard enthusiasts from across the country & around the world.

Racers line up at the 116th st starting line

The 2011 race brought over 1000 riders who charged down Broadway through 8 miles of live traffic.  According to Bustin’ Boards, skaters must dodge 150 lights, 100,000 pedestrians, cops, road blocks, (and maybe the occasional road kill).  With the slogan “YOU COULD DIE”, the Broadway Bomb brings together the most exquisite adrenaline-junkies for 30 minutes of urban glory.  Yes, it was madness!

We were lucky to meet the founder & organizer of the Broadway Bomb just a few days before the event.  Thanks for stopping by, Ian!  Glad you could rep a sticker.  TwentyAt would love to be part of the action-sports community, and we see our app as a perfect tool for surfers & skaters on their next adventure with their friends.

CollegeFest 2011

TwentyAt CollegeFest Booth

The TwentyAt booth at CollegeFest

We just returned from a wild weekend in Boston at CollegeFest 2011!

Over 17,000 students from New England area colleges descended upon Hynes Convention Center for this massive back-to-school event.   All weekend, everyone was treated with loads of free giveaways, food, music, & fun activities.  It was madness!

Our TwentyAt promo team was there to introduce our app to students as a great way to connect with their best friends at school.  For many college kids, Facebook is too big & open, Twitter is too noisy, email is inconvenient, and texting just isn’t fun anymore.  TwentyAt steps in to offer the best features from all these things, only for your favorite 20 people.

We had a blast at our TwentyAt booth!  Our giveaways were a hit- 600 stickers, 500 koozies, 250 sunglasses all gone… we hooked up EVERYONE.  At our booth, CollegeFest’ers could also write us a “speech bubble” then receive a photo with it & their friends.  We were snapping & popping out hilarious pictures all day.   You can check them all out on our facebook page.

Thanks again to everyone that stopped by.  We had a great time chatting with you all and hearing the great reactions to our app.   We’d love to hear from you again- just give us a shout on our facebook page or twitter.

We’ve returned to our home base in NYC, but we’ll be back in Boston before you know it!

New York Surf Film Festival

NYSFF 2011 Films

TwentyAt was thrilled to be a sponsor at the New York Surf Film Festival! (http://newyorksurffilmfestival.com)

Last week, the festival screened an eclectic variety of surf-inspired films over three nights in the East Village.  Our team got to watch the films and meet surf enthusiasts from around the world.  Afterwards, we had the chance to chat with some of the talented directors, like Kai Neville (http://kaineville.com) and Maxence Peyras (http://www.eyeseaproduction.com/site).

At the festival, TwentyAt was excited to support a fantastic non-profit, Stoked Mentoring (http://www.stoked.org). Stoked provides youth mentoring and after-school programs through snowboarding, skateboarding, and surfing.  Really rad!

We think TwentyAt is a perfect fit for the surf community.  With our app, you can effortlessly stay connected with your surfing buddies and never miss the best swells.

Thanks again to the New York Surf Film Festival.  The films were magical and the whole weekend was a blast.  Get in touch on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/NewYorkSurfFilmFestival) and be sure to attend next year!

TechCrunch DISRUPT

The TwentyAt team at DISRUPT

Our team had a successful time in San Francisco at TechCrunch DISRUPT!

If you’re not a nerd like us, TechCrunch (http://techcrunch.com) is a leading blog about technology startups, founded by entrepreneur Michael Arrington.  From September 12th-14th, they hosted DISRUPT- one of the top conferences in the industry.  Over these 3 days, we heard from some of the most influential figures of Web 2.0 and saw the latest happenings in technology.

At DISRUPT, we participated in “Startup Alley”, a competition where the hottest new tech companies showcased their latest products & services.  TwentyAt was there to introduce our new social app to the world.

We received a great response from the attendees at DISRUPT!   We demoed TwentyAt to the Silicon Valley crowd and got some excellent feedback.  Everyone was excited to begin using our app and loved the idea of a small social network for your closest friends & family.

During the conference, our team had the chance to interact with many industry professionals, VC’s, and fellow startups.  We wanted to give a shout-out to some of the great folks we met at DISRUPT:

Version 1.01

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that version 1.01 of TwentyAt is officially live!  We are also excited to about our collaboration with Aviary to make things extra special for our TwentyAt users.

We have integrated Aviary into our app to enable users to be able to edit their photos before sending them to their 20. Aviary is originally a web based multi-media application providing different effects such as ‘negative’ and ‘cinematic’. It also has the option to reduce red-eye, add fun stickers, speech bubbles, text and much more to the photo. TwentyAt users can now snap photos and send them to their friends looking the way they want them to look.
